Hospital Certification Process

Admission to Health in Italy Network is subject to a three-step strict screening process based on the following examinations:

1. Outcome, based on Outcomes Evaluation National Program, so-called PNE, measured by Agenas

Agenas is a National Agency for Regional Health Services; it is a non-economic public institution in charge of: supporting national and regional health planning, comparing costs and efficiency of healthcare services, detecting malfunctions in managing health resources (human resources, material and provision), spreading health innovation and experimentation.

Agenas is a technical-scientific Agency of the Italian National Health Services; it promotes collaboration at the different levels of the NHS and it is involved in monitoring, conducting studies and elaborating proposals to share with the Ministry of Health and the Italian Regions.

2. Quality & Safety, in co-operation with Progea

Progea is a consulting firm for healthcare organizations, founded in 1987. Progea activities are focused on organizational models, strategic analysis and sustainable improvement programs. Since 2001, Progea collaborates with Joint Commission International to disseminate in Italy JCI criteria and methodology on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement.

Since 2013, Progea coordinates the Joint Commission Italian Network, which involves almost 30 healthcare organizations around Italy: JCI Italian Network is a not for profit initiative, composed by organizations already accredited by JCI or recognizing JCI methodology for quality improvement.

At HEALTH IN ITALY, your safety is our top priority.

By getting involved in your care, asking questions, and speaking up, you will help us provide you with the best possible care.

While in Italy, your medical care team will keep you informed about your treatment. They will listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and explain the details of your treatment plan. When you are discharged, you will receive written instructions to take home to ensure that you fully understand follow-up care and instructions.

Safety

Hygiene and Infection Protection

  • Preventing infections is one of the most important goals of the Hospital. While not every infection is preventable, many can be prevented by taking certain precautions.

  • One of the best ways to prevent infections is hand hygiene. Hand hygiene refers to cleaning hands with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Alcohol-based products are an easy way to perform hand hygiene. Throughout the Hospital, you will see dispensers and bottles in hallways. Your health care team will clean their hands before and after providing care to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Actively participate in decisions about your treatment.

  • Ask questions about your care and treatment.

  • Ask questions about your discharge instructions.

  • Tell us if you do not understand what we are saying to you.

  • Ask for an interpreter if you do not understand English or Italian.

  • Share your medical history with your health care team.

  • Tell us about your medical problems and prior surgeries.

  • Tell us if you have any allergies.

  • While you are in the Hospital, ask about all medications you are given and why they have been prescribed for you. Remember to take home your written medication instructions.

  • Wear your Hospital identification (ID) band at all times while you are in the Hospital.
To improve the quality of your care, we advise patients to do the following:

Our staff will review the information on your Hospital ID band before giving you any medications, before tests, procedures, and X-rays, or when giving you your food tray. If your ID band comes off or is unreadable, ask us to replace it.

  • For your protection, we strive to make every effort to prevent falls during your Hospital stay. This includes placing your call button within reach, helping you get out of bed, and taking you for walks on the nursing unit. If you are at risk for falling, we will take extra precautions.

Patient Well-Being

All of our patient rooms are private and designed for comfort and comprehensive care. If there is anything about your stay that is not meeting your expectations, please inform one of our staff members and ask to speak to the PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR.

Your health and well-being are important to us.

Our healthcare professionals will work hard to provide you with high-quality healthcare and to make your stay here as pleasant and as comfortable as possible.
